About Sam

With a training in classical voice, Brighton-based singer Sam Carelse made the switch to jazz back in 2011, and has since been enjoying a busy schedule of gigs for regular clients along the South Coast including pubs, clubs, hotels, weddings and private parties.

Sam is an experienced performer in a range of jazz styles to suit all moods, including up tempo and medium swing, relaxed ballads, cool bossa novas, high-energy gypsy jazz, and vocalese, an artform which requires a great deal of technical vocal skill.

Sam’s charming, mellow and expressive voice combined with her easy going and warm personality has made her very much in demand and highly rated by clients and audiences alike.

Her main influences include Anita O’Day, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Annie Ross and Mark Murphy. Contemporary influences include Cécile McLorin Savant, Liane Carroll, Norma Winstone, José James, and Cyrille Aimée.
