Three guitarists. Three perspectives. One legendary sound.
This special tribute to Grant Green celebrates the unmistakable groove, soul, and lyricism that defined his music, reimagined by three outstanding players, each offering their own perspective on his legacy. From bebop lines to a deep soul-jazz feel, the guitarists explore Green’s wide expressive range, supported by a tight, swinging rhythm section that delivers the infectious groove and momentum that made his recordings so compelling.
Grant Green was a leading jazz guitarist known for his soulful, blues and bop-infused sound. Rising to prominence in the 1960s, he recorded extensively with Blue Note Records and helped shape hard bop and soul jazz. His distinctive tone and deep sense of groove continue to influence guitarists around the world.
Jason Henson is an experienced guitarist who has performed with leading jazz artists, including Joe Lee Wilson, Bobby Wellins, Alan Barnes, and Jim Mullen. He has appeared at major jazz festivals and clubs, as well as on BBC broadcasts, and has toured internationally. His playing draws on influences such as Django Reinhardt, Wes Montgomery, and Grant Green.
Paul Burke is an Australian guitarist based in Brighton who trained in Melbourne. After touring extensively around Australia with a range of artists, he has developed a versatile, high-energy style spanning funk, fusion, jazz, and rock. He now leads his own trio in Brighton while continuing to work on a variety of other projects.
Lionel Philippe is known for his expressive, groove-led style rooted in blues, funk, and jazz. He is a regular performer on the local music scene, including with Gogoville, and brings a distinctive sound to every performance.

The Bath Arms is situated in the heart of the south lanes and is the oldest licensed premises in the area, dating from 1864. That means people have been boozing there for over 150 years. There’s even a secret bricked up tunnel underneath it that leads to all different places from the past.
On Sundays roasts will be served. The kitchen closes at 6pm, so enjoy your Sunday roast and sit back, relax and digest to some top quality jazz.
