Simon Spillett is one of Britain’s leading jazz tenor saxophonists, renowned for his powerful, hard-swinging style and his deep connection with the great tradition of British jazz. He has worked with many of the country’s most celebrated musicians, including Sir John Dankworth, Stan Tracey, Peter King, Alan Barnes, Bobby Wellins, John Etheridge, Liane Carroll, Tina May and the Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra.

His American collaborations include Jon Hendricks, Kurt Elling, Bobby Shew and Monica Mancini. Spillett has received numerous accolades, including the BBC Jazz Awards Rising Star (2007), Jazz Journal Critics’ Choice Album of the Year (2009), British Jazz Awards Top Tenor Saxophonist (2011) and Services to British Jazz Award (2016).

He is also a leading authority on saxophonist Tubby Hayes, having written the acclaimed biography The Long Shadow of the Little Giant and formed his own big band dedicated to Hayes’ music.

Danish-born, Brighton-based Sara Oschlag has firmly established herself as one of the UK’s leading jazz vocalists. A regular performer at Ronnie Scott’s, Love Supreme Festival, PizzaExpress Jazz Club and Jazz at Lincoln Center, she has performed throughout the UK and Europe and has built an impressive online following of more than 12 million YouTube views.

Sara has recently appeared as featured vocalist with the Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra, Pete Long’s Echoes of Ellington Big Band and Arnie Somogyi’s Scenes in the City, as well as performing alongside American trumpet and vocal star Benny Benack III at Brighton Jazz Festival.

Her 2024 album YEAH! received widespread critical acclaim and was selected as Album of the Week by Danish Radio’s P8 Jazz. His extraordinary career has seen him work with some of the biggest names in jazz, including Ruby Braff, Freddie Hubbard, Scott Hamilton, Warren Vaché, Ken Peplowski, Harry Allen, Conte Candoli, Stan Tracey, Sir John Dankworth and Humphrey Lyttelton. Away from jazz, his session work has included artists such as Björk, Bryan Ferry, Michel Legrand, Clare Teal, Jools Holland and Jamie Cullum.

Alan has recorded more than 30 albums as leader or co-leader and has won over 25 British Jazz Awards, as well as being named BBC Jazz Musician of the Year twice.

Jim Mullen is one of the most distinctive and respected guitarists in British jazz, renowned for his warm tone and instantly recognisable thumb-picked style.
